Undue influence from third parties and FIFA Ban on Indian Team

Here is the explainer for the news from Indian Express.

However, this post is about a personal touch on football in India.

India probably has the biggest fan base of all of the world football. Be it world cup and premier league matches in or outside of India, Indian fans win big time.

As a child I was also attracted to football and went for summer coaching organized by the Kerala Football Association. It was some INR 50 for the camp, and my parents double checked before paying and ensured that I was serious about attending the entire camp. I attended the camp in full. And it was a strengthening experience and gave a positive confidence to play football. Previously hesistant due to multiple health related events, after the camp football was manageable and I was trained on the tricks. The coach and coaching area and the group of co-campers were excellent learning experience.

Back in school I could shine with the newly learned skill and shocked and surprised that school mates who previously wouldn’t pass the ball to me would do. They trusted me!

Then there was option to continue the training with different coaches in another school ground nearby. And I heard that the summer camp students were supposed to get a certificate that could benefit them when they decide to pursue football further. I could not care much about it, but it was a good to have. So I would ask the coach every alternate meet-ups about certificate and he would vaguely promise that it will be given soon. And days passed. And then I heard from fellow playmates that the certificates were given to the “favorite” students, and they ran out of certificates.

I never received the certificate.

Slowly the play became a drudgery, I was never invited for any of the play offs outside of the training ground. And then one day a new coach said, If you want to play go home, buy a football and play with it. He was probably hinting at me not doing a team work, team play. And that was the end of it. I never wore the football shoes, shin pad or played football anymore.

If, at a very low level summer camp these organizers could not encourage and provide completion certificate, and play favouratism, then I can only guess what happens from the very top down. Based on my personal experience I think Indian football deserve the ban. And hopefully the system will set itself in a corrective path. But a lost hope is a lost hope.

No. 10 Fabregas

It had been Fabregas all the way, why!
Fabregas was on the bench and a guy talks incessantly about Cannavaro wearing a No.10 Fabregas red jersey. What happened to Fabregas? Who knows?

But I was shouting Fabregas! No one bothered since it was the last day of stay. A golden chance, a shining chip from Fabregas, its Fabregas and.. referee indicates a goal kick. I cannot wonder why people shout ? A commentator shouldn’t be biased. But with Fabregas anything is possible. Because that is in a name. William Shakespeare itself is a name that matters. So goes Fabregas. Fame that came fast goes fast. Some fools hold on. The shine of fame dazzles the followers so much that the occassional downfalls are rarely noticed. The name lives on. Thousands of Fabregas are derived , maintained, followed and admired. The crowd that follows do so blindly, but that is the reward of being good for sometime around.

Looks can be highly deceiving. All that glitters is not gold. All who shoot goals aren’t Fabregas. And all Fabregas aren’t good shooters. Many a time Fabregas is just an imagination sitting on the bench without doing anything. Ignorance can be a bliss for anybody and even Fabregas.

Getting psycho…( Sorry Fabregas fans , i guess you got what I meant!)

The semifinals-Netherlands goes through

At the Quarter finals

# Netherlands got an expected win over Brazil . They’d been favorites. With the the lack of Ronaldinho in Brazil, what is fun in watching and cheering for Brazil. Of course occasionally we saw Kaka shoot. But the heart of team was not there on the ground. With Felipo Melo getting a card for kicking business the Brazil showed themselves that they are not for the cup this time. They dishonoured football and hence they are out.

# ESPANA should consider themselves lucky against #PARAGUAY . Missed penalties and lucky chances, both teams played their heart out…………It was a high action fast game. But ultimately it was the game of chances.

# #GHANA gets unlucky with URUGUAY. Suarez saved agoal for Uruguay. It was their day. The game of rules and the game of bending them. But Uruguay doesn’t desrve the win, as they have shown.

Finally in the first semifinal we see Uruguay going home without playing the finals.

Germany hopefully will win todays match if Villa doesn’t get lucky enough as in previous cases.

World Cup wins over other programs

All the days before world cup, football world cup that is; The TVs loved to show only serials, movies and songs, n number of reality shows etc. So it was a long dark era of four years after which came the real show.
Someone poetically messaged that ” It was short and hung between Zidane’s head and Messi’s feet, dedicated to final years of college”. OK he must’ve been a Messi fan. But only thing that Argentina team does is to mess with the ball with hand, off sides, fouls and finally somehow get through the show as triumphant winners. (Sorry to fans!)
Now Star singer is replaced with world cup football in many houses. People have joined to “Jabulani” (Celebrate). Before the TV, the world unites. Thanks FIFA

Following Jabulani

It has been very frustrating that the university exam was rescheduled to cut through the FIFA world cup. Clashing up everything. One would not expect this; from them who stay on the home ground of football fans in Kerala :Kozhikode/Malappuram. But the university did that. Students suffered, nay! there mark lists suffered.
And I got emotional messages like this:-

” It was short and hung between the Zidane’s head and Messi’s feet, Dedicated to 4th years, the college life”

Very touching message. Living message.

And after that funny set of last sem exams world cup is being enjoyed with energetic enthusiasm. But some still complain, some exams are re-scheduled, postponed, etc etc. The University loves the students doesn’t it.
